I'm having a rough week over here. The Chipmunk is having a major growth spurt and this one is hitting me kind of hard. I love it when he grows and does new things and makes new discoveries, of course, but every so often I can't help tearing up a little.
Over the weekend, he outgrew all of his shorts. Overnight. Oops.
This morning, he got out my tablet while I was teaching, opened this app (which he's never been interested in before) and just started tracing letters. sniff.sniff. I love his growth spurts and I love all of the developmental changes. I just sometimes wish they didn't all happen at once!
Fighting cats, hyper dogs, lots of music, and learning along with the human hurricane.

Daffodils and Sunshine
In case y'all think life my child is all sunshine and daffodils, we had this conversation today:
M: Sean, please go get in the car
S: I need to park my digger first.
M: ok, no problem. Then please get in the car
S: can I have a snack?
M: no, you just finished breakfast and I asked you to please get in the car.
S: oh. How about I take my rocket ship?
M: I'm afraid it's really too big. Go get in the car.
S: OH!!! We forgot to walk the dogs!
M: no, we didn't. Getinthecar. Get in the car. Get.in.the.car.please.
S: where are we going?
M: nowhere at the moment. Then the gym and story time.
S: oh! Then I need to bring snacks.
M: That's great you remembered, but I packed them for you. Getinthecar.
S: How about some cookies?
M: Get in the car
S: May I have some cookies please?
M: Get in the car
S: I really, really want some cookies.
M: Fortheloveofallthatisholy, PLEASE GO GET IN THE CAR.
S: Are you bringing cookies?
M: I'm going to carry you if you don't go right this second.
S: Can I hold the cookies? *runs for the car FINALLY*
M: Child, where did your shoes go?!???
M: Sean, please go get in the car

Rainy day Birthday
The Boy loves to be outside, so we always plan everything to be out of doors. Normally it's not a problem, but we got seriously rained out for his third birthday party. What do you do with a digger and construction party when you can't have a dirt pile?
Beans. Lots and lots and LOTS of beans.
The construction hats in the back all have other things that the kids added to the pool as they got bored...we had dried pasta, cooked pasta, paper easter grass, rice, bay leaves, cinnamon sticks, and more!
Construction Zone - hard hats required!
My sweet Birthday Boy!
The bean pool was definitely the favorite for most of the kids, but we also put together a play dough and train table.
We put together an oval track from his geotrax and added a play dough ocean, sand, construction dirt, and grass. And lots of ocean critters, animals, and construction gear, of course!
Digger cake :)
Happy boy with all of his friends and family...and a few presents.
